Distilling Yeasts

Choose this pack if you want the best performing most robust and most versatile yeast to make excellent quality alcohol. It also contains Turbo carbon to clean & filter the wash during fermentation and Turbo Clear to remove the unwanted yeast cells after fermentation. 

Adding Turbo carbon and Turbo Clear will significantly improve the quality of your finished spirit no matter how good your still is.

The latest version of Turbo Classic is now known as Still Spirits Classic 8 Turbo.

Classic 8 is the biggest selling Turbo Yeast as it  performs excellently under most conditions and is versatile enough to be used with different sugar volumes.

You have two great options with the Turbo 8 . Firstly use it with 8 kg of sugar for more alcohol volume .  Secondly use it with 6 kg of sugar for fast fermenting and a greater temperature tolerance. It can ferment out in as little as 3 days and brew between 18 and 30 degrees.

Turbo Classic has been further improved with the inclusion of new mineral absorbents, further improving distillate quality.

For fermentation of sugar, malt extract, or grain mash for distillation of Whiskey spirit using the Alembic Pot Still System with Mangrove Jack's Boiler or Grainfather Brewing System with the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top and Copper Condenser. For a result with less character, the Turbo 500 System including the Stainless Steel Condenser and Turbo 500 Copper Condenser can be used, if the ceramic saddles are removed, instead of using the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top and Copper Condenser.

Instructions 

Add directly to fermentation vessel and leave to ferment at 20-35°C (68-95°F) ambient air temperature for optimum performance and quality. 

Ingredients

Classic is the best all rounder Turbo Yeast, performing excellently under most conditions. Use with 8 kg of sugar for high ABV, or 6 kg of sugar for fast fermenting. Classic has been further improved with the inclusion of new mineral absorbents, further improving distillate quality. We recommend you use Turbo Carbon as it will significantly improve the performance of Classic 8 Turbo.

Alcotec 24 MegaKlar is a two-component fining agent for wine or turbo yeast wash. It will normally clear anything in 24 hours although some particularly difficult turbo yeast washes such as those from Alcotec 24, may require 48 hours. The product comes in a dual sachet with total weight of 260g which will clear 100L of wine or wash.

A specialist active dried rum distiller’s yeast. This strain produces an optimum congener profile for full-flavoured, smooth and rounded rum spirit.

Application 

For fermentation of sugar, treacle, molasses or sugar cane juice for distillation of Rum spirit using the Alembic Pot Still System. You can also use the Grainfather Brewing System with the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top and Copper Condenser. For a result with less character, the Turbo 500 System or the Grainfather with the Turbo 500 Stainless Steel Condenser and Turbo 500 Copper Condenser can be used, if the ceramic saddles are removed, instead of using the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top and Copper Condenser. If attaching the Turbo 500 condenser to the Grainfather, you will need the lid attachment

For fermentation of sugar, potato or grain mash for distillation of Gin spirit using the Turbo 500 System with Mangrove Jack's Boiler or Grainfather Brewing System with either the Turbo 500 Stainless Steel Condenser or Turbo 500 Copper Condenser. If attaching the Turbo 500 condenser to the Grainfather, you will need the lid attachment.

Add directly to fermentation vessel and leave to ferment at 12-32°C (54-90°F) ambient air temperature for optimum performance and quality.

Classic 6 is specifically formulated to ferment 6 kg of sugar ( 7kg Dextrose ) across a wide temperature range of 18 to 30c, while still producing a clean tasting spirit and a low fermentation odour. It is always our very strong recommendation to use Turbo Clear and Turbo carbon with every Turbo yeast for the best quality distilled spirit.

All our yeast has a minimum expiry date of 6 months after purchase. If you keep the yeast refrigerated, it was last an extra year past the expiry date.
