Electric Meat Mincers

An electric meat mincer, or meat grinder, is what makes home sausage and salami making practical. Once you have minced your own meat you stop buying it. You choose the cut, you control the fat, and you know exactly what went in. For a family doing a batch of sausages or salami each year, an electric mincer turns a long day into a manageable afternoon. Already have a motor? Our mincer motors and attachments let you replace or upgrade one half at a time.

The size number is where to start. A number 8 head suits small batches and occasional mince, and the FLB TC 8 nickel plated package is the entry point into Fabio Leonardi. A number 12 or 22 head is what most salami families end up with, and the Fabio Leonardi packages come with a white or stainless steel motor cover, or as a motor only with stainless cover if you already own attachments. Reber build a compact TC22 short body machine. Carnivore Collective cover the number 22 mincer and a general electric mincer, with a meat tenderiser attachment that runs off the same unit. Grifo supply the EquipPro machines, including a 0.8 hp version with a 22 tin attachment. Trespade have an electric mincer as well, and the RGV Duetto is a three in one food processor for people who want more than mince.

Chill everything first. Meat, plate, knife and even the head, straight from the fridge or twenty minutes in the freezer. Warm fat smears and blocks the plate. Come and see them run at Laverton North or Epping. See also hand mincers, Fabio Leonardi, mincer knives and plates and salami and sausages.

Frequently asked questions

What size meat mincer do I need?

The number is the size of the head. A number 8 suits small batches and occasional mince. A number 12 or 22 is what most families making sausages and salami end up with, and a 32 is for big volumes. Bigger heads take bigger plates and push more meat per turn.

Electric or hand mincer?

A hand mincer clamps to the bench, needs no power and is plenty for a few kilos. An electric meat mincer is worth it once you are mincing for a family salami day or every week. Both are on display at Laverton North and Epping.

Can I make sausages with a meat mincer?

Most mincers take a sausage funnel, which is fine for a small batch. For more than a few kilos, a sausage filler is faster and gives firmer, more even sausages, because it pushes the meat without mincing it a second time.

Do you stock mincer plates and knives?

Yes. Plates and knives wear and are meant to be replaced, so we keep plates in sizes 5, 8, 10/12, 22 and 32, in stainless and carbon steel, in our mincer knives and plates range. Check the size number on your mincer head before ordering.

Why does my mincer smear the meat?

Warm fat smears and blocks the plate. Chill the meat, plate, knife and head in the fridge, or give them twenty minutes in the freezer, and check the knife is sharp and fitted the right way round.
