Cutting Boards

A cutting board is the bit of kit you touch every single day, so it is worth getting right. A board that is too thin bows, a board that slides around is a hazard, and a board that has been hacked to pieces is harder to clean than it looks. Thickness, grip and something sensible to store it on matter more than looks.

Most of what we stock is polyethylene, because it takes a beating and washes up properly. The Ken Hands Professional Cutting Board and Professional PE Cutting Board are the workhorses, the same sort of thing commercial kitchens run. The Chopping Board from Rigamonti Casalinghi is the Italian option if you want something for the bench rather than the coolroom. There are two boards built for a specific job as well: the Jerky Cutting Board comes as a poly design with a knife, and the Biltong Cutting Board arrives with a folding knife, both made for slicing dried meat thin and even.

Buy a rack while you are at it. The Cutting Board Rack in chrome metal, the PE Cutting Board 6 Slot Rack in black plastic and the Stainless Steel Stand with 10 Slots let boards dry standing on edge instead of stacked flat and damp. Colour coding one board for raw meat and another for everything else is the habit worth forming.

Have a look at Laverton North or Epping, or browse knives and sharpeners, food preparation and kitchen equipment.
