Beer Glasses, Trays & Jugs

You put months into a batch and then pour it into whatever is in the cupboard. It is worth doing better than that. Glass shape genuinely changes how a beer reads, how the head sits and holds, how much aroma comes up at you, and how long the last third stays cold in your hand. It is also just nicer to hand someone a proper glass when they come round to try what you have made.

There are two pieces here at the moment and between them they cover most of what a home bar needs. The Ken Hands Sheffield Keller style beer glass holds 425ml, the straight sided German shape that suits lagers, pilsners and anything you want to look at properly. The Ken Hands Euro style beer jug holds 1140ml, a bit over two and a half of those glasses, so it is the one for carrying a jug to the table rather than walking back to the keg between rounds.

One thing that makes a real difference. Rinse the glass with cold water before you pour and do not dry it with a tea towel. A wet glass gives you a better head, and towel lint and residue are exactly what kills one.

Both stores, Laverton North and Epping, have them. See also taps and faucets, keg accessories and beer brewing.
