Arrosticini Charcoal BBQ's

Arrosticini are cooked over a long narrow trough of charcoal, close to the coals, turned often and eaten standing up. The grill shape is the whole trick: the skewers rest on the rails and only the meat sits over the heat, so the sticks do not burn through.

We stock Italian made stainless steel arrosticini grills, including the Ferraboli, plus charcoal BBQ metal frames in 60cm and 80cm and a 50cm two panel support set if you want to build up from a frame you already have. The portable charcoal grills in 60cm and 80cm suit taking it to someone else's place, which is usually how these end up being used.

The Giromatic is worth knowing about. It is a stainless skewer frame with 23 spots and a rotator, so every skewer turns together and you are not standing over thirty sticks doing it by hand. There is a Spiedigrill electric version as well if you would rather not manage charcoal at all.

Small things that make the difference: a manual air fan for getting the coals going without a hair dryer, terracotta skewer holders for serving them upright at the table the way they do it in Abruzzo, and replacement rubber feet for fold out legs.

Everything is on the shelf at Laverton North and Epping, and it is worth seeing the size in person before you commit. See also cubo skewer boxes, arrosticini kits and BBQ and smoking.
