Jars first. Our Italian round glass jars come in Standard, Orto and Orcio shapes, there is a square jar, and the Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni is the one with the matching metal cap lid. The lids are where people come unstuck. We keep white, black, gold and red with a gold ring as separate lines, plus the white cap with the tomato logo, because lids wear out long before jars do and a reused lid is a failed seal waiting to happen. For anything headed to the freezer instead, there are Italian vacuum storage bags, vacuum sealer rolls in a twin pack and a gold and silver vacuum food board.
The practical bit. Buy new lids every season and check the diameter against your jars before you fill anything, because Italian jar sizes are not all the same. And the Rigamonti Casalinghi red plastic jar funnel with the handle and reducer costs very little and will save you more sauce than it costs, on the first day you use it.
