Italian card games run on their own decks, and if you grew up playing Scopa or Briscola at the kitchen table you already know that a standard deck of fifty two will not do. These are Modiano cards, the ones you find in bars and clubs all over Italy.
Which deck you want usually depends on where the family is from. We stock Modiano Napoletane, Siciliane, Triestine and Trevigiane, so most regional habits are covered, and the Napoletane are far and away the most asked for here. If the cards are going to get a real workout, take the plastic versions, the Modiano Napoletane Plastic and the Plastic Trevigiane, because they shrug off spilt wine and shuffle the same way in year five as they did in week one. Paper decks feel better in the hand and cost less, and they suit a set that comes out at Christmas. There is also a Napoletane Forza Napoli set if you happen to know a supporter.
They make an easy gift and they post well, so they are worth tucking into an order.
