Putting a season away properly is a skill, and most of it lives in the details of the container. Get the jar, the lid and the seal right and the rest is patience and a hot day in the kitchen with the family.

We stock Italian glass jars in Round Standard, Orto and Orcio shapes, a square jar, and the Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni with its matching metal cap lid. Choose by what is going in. The Orcio shape suits oil packed vegetables, the standard round is the passata and jam jar, and the Quattro Stagioni is the one to use when it is going on a shelf where people can see it. Replacement metal jar lids come in white, black, gold and red with a gold ring, and there is still the white cap with the tomato logo for the traditionalists. Buy them by the box, because the lid is the part that fails.
