Adjuncts are what you add alongside your base malt to push a beer where you want it. Some feed the yeast and lift alcohol without adding much flavour. Some add body and mouthfeel. Some add colour and sweetness. Getting this part right is often the difference between a thin brew and one that tastes finished.
Dextrose is the straightforward fermentable, available plain or as Mangrove Jacks brewing sugar. It ferments out almost completely, so it lifts strength without leaving body behind. Maltodextrin 20 from Bintani does the opposite. It is largely unfermentable, so it stays in the glass as body. Lactose, also from Bintani, stays sweet in the finished beer, which is why it turns up in milk stouts. For malt character, Thomas Cooper liquid malt extract comes in light, amber, wheat and dark, and there is Briess sparkling amber in 1.5 kg. Wander Malts light dried extract from Switzerland is handy when you do not want to add liquid volume. Morgans Master Malts caramalt in 1.5 kg brings colour, Bintani dark malt mix goes darker again, and there is a 1 kg light malt mix brew enhancer. Coopers pale malt is here in 25 kg for all grain brewers, along with calcium sulphate for water treatment.
