Benevento essence is an Italian herbal liqueur. Its distinctive yellow colour comes from the presence of saffron, but it has a sweetness and viscosity typical of liqueurs. Some may know it as Strega Liquore.

Dissolve the essence with some alcohol, like vodka. Dissolve the recommended amount of sugar in the recommended amount of boiling water. Let the mix cool, then stir it all together and filter.
