Measuring Flasks & Glassware
Measuring properly is the difference between a batch you can repeat and one you got lucky with. Sixty one lines of glassware and measures for winemaking, brewing and distilling.
Measuring cylinders in 100ml polypropylene and 250ml with 2ml graduations cover most hydrometer work, and a graduated 3 litre jug handles the volumes a cylinder cannot. For lab work there are borosilicate Erlenmeyer conical flasks, 100ml low form glass beakers, glass reagent bottles and short stem glass filter funnels. Borosilicate matters here: it takes heat without cracking, which ordinary glass will not.
For dosing small volumes accurately, 10ml disposable syringes with 0.2ml graduations and a 100mm extension tube, which is how additions get made without guessing drops.
The valenche is the one people ask about by description rather than name. It is the thief you use to draw a sample out of a barrel or tank without opening the whole thing to air. We stock a one piece and a three piece version from Ferrari.
Also here: distilled demineralised water for calibration and topping up, and a digital thermohygrometer with an external sensor for watching a curing space or a fermentation room.
If you are calibrating a hydrometer or a pH meter, ask us. Getting the reference right is worth more than a better instrument. See also hydrometers and refractometers, pH meters and thermometers.

Our Conical flasks are made of the same fancy borosilicate glass that you'd find in spooky labs, with green smokey liquid pouring out of it.

A five piece pear shaped flask assembly for Rankine apparatus, two neck with 19/26 sockets, 50ml, supplied with the bubbler and clip tail. Australian made glassware. Being a glass assembly, it is worth keeping a spare of whichever piece you tend to break. Check your Rankine setup takes 19/26 sockets before ordering.
$52.00 AUD
A glass gas bubbler, reference MF15 / 1 / FS13, for Rankine apparatus. Sold individually as a replacement for the bubbler in your existing set.

$29.00 AUD
A glass adaptor with a 19/26 cone on one end and a barb tail on the other, made for Rankine apparatus. Glassware like this gets knocked about in a working lab, so it is worth having a spare in the drawer.

$33.90 AUD
Distilled water in a 15 litre container, sold for laboratory use. That is the whole of it, distilled water and nothing added.

$2.50 AUD
$21.50 AUD
A four prong laboratory clamp with cork lined jaws, for holding glassware on a retort stand. The cork facing grips without chewing into the glass, which matters with flasks and condensers.
Four prongs spread the load around a round vessel. You will need a bosshead and a stand to go with it if you do not already have them.
$8.90 AUD
A nylon burette brush with a 20 x 240mm head on a 700mm handle, made to reach the full length of a burette. Nylon is soft enough that it will not mark the bore.
One of the quiet bits of kit that makes home wine testing less of a chore. Compare the head size against your own glassware before ordering.
$36.00 AUD
A heavy duty bosshead taking 16mm rod, made in Australia, for clamping laboratory gear onto a retort stand.
Be aware this one is special order only. It is not something we hold on the shelf, and the lead time depends on the maker. Check the rod diameter on your own stand against the 16mm here before we put an order in for you.
