Glass Demijohns, Jars & Carboys

Demijohns are still the simplest way to ferment and age a small batch. Glass does not hold flavour, does not scratch, and lets you see exactly what the wine is doing without opening anything.

We stock narrow neck and wide neck demijohns in PVC basket and heavy weaved basket, with or without a tap. Narrow neck is the traditional choice for wine because it exposes less surface to air. Wide neck is easier to clean and better if you are working with fruit or olives. The versions with a tap fitted save decanting entirely, which is worth the extra when you are drawing off a glass at a time.

Gallon jars come with either a swing clip closure or a screw closure, and we carry the 35mm metal screw caps and demijohn caps separately so you are not replacing a whole jar over a perished seal. The white and black metal jar lids, the tomato logo caps and the Bormioli Quattro Stagioni lids are all here for preserving as well.

An Italian red plastic funnel with a reducer makes filling one a great deal less messy. You will also want an airlock and bung and something to move the wine with from transfer hose and syphons.

Sixty two lines in stock at Laverton North and Epping. Part of our Wine Making range.
